Week 2: Starting at Sophia University

When I first set foot on the Yotsuya campus at Sophia University, I was very amazed at how nice the campus was. In terms of size, the campus was relatively smaller compared to UH Manoa. However, the buildings were much taller, requiring you to take escalators or elevators to get to my classes. I never really had to use an elevator or an escalator at UH Manoa, so it was a lot different for me.

I am also only taking classes taught in English, but I was surprised by the amount of Japanese or full-time students that were in my classes. A lot of Japanese students at Sophia University are able to speak English which I thought was pretty amazing. This is probably something that is really unique to Sophia's reputation with being very international and globalized. I am also considering joining a some circles in the future!
